Wonder Wander Quilt 2023

Inspiration - 'Wander Wonder' draws inspiration from a recent trip to the Southwest region of Western Australia with its diverse textures, from soft sand dunes to rugged Eucalyptus marginata and diversicolor forests.

The work incorporates cloth sourced and dyed with E. marginata wood in situ and pieced together using a layering technique while intricate hand quilting echos the landscape's curves.

By employing various hand stitches, the work aims to evoke the sensation of running your finger across the diverse surfaces of this landscape, allowing viewers to connect with the terrain on a deeper, sensory level.

quilt top - 100% reclaimed natural fibres, hand dyed, plant dyes.

quilt backing/batting/binding - 100% re-claimed natural fibres, commercial cotton batting.

plant dyes - Eucalyptus marginata.

Hand pieced, hand and machine quilted, hand embroidered and appliquéd.
